Taste of Flight and 5K on the Runway

I know you all must be sick of hearing this weekend was a busy one for us, but what can I say? We enjoy helping out and getting out there talking to people about aviation.

This past Saturday we double booked ourselves. Friday night we flew the Chipmunk, the T-6, and the Champ to Ontario for their fifth annual 5K on the Runway race Saturday. It was a beautiful short sunset flight over there, but of course nothing ever goes to plan in aviation. We shut down our planes to refuel before taxiing to a hangar for the night but the T6 starter picked that moment to stop working. We decided we’d just leave it for the night and wake up early the next morning to replace it. So eeearly Saturday Jeff, Laila, Isaiah, Johnson, and Joanna woke up to get the T-6 fixed and our booth ready for the 5k. We had a blast telling all different kinds of people about our organization.

After that it was a thankfully uneventful flight back to Chino to prepare for the Planes of Fame annual Taste of Flight fundraiser. If you haven’t been to the Planes of Fame museum at Chino yet you should definitely check it out. They focus on the history of aviation and have lots of rare warbirds preserved and on display. We volunteered to help with anything they might need for their annual gala and had lots of good food and good connections that night. It’s always fun being around the aviation community and we are humbled by their knowledge and experience. Special shoutout to Jeff, Johnson, Isaiah, and Laila for pulling such a long day supporting us. We are incredibly grateful.

We hope to see you guys at one or both of these events next year and in the meantime, we always welcome people to our hangar on Saturdays!
