Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Good Flight

December has been jam packed with Christmas parties, sunset flights, laser tag, and a solo!

We started December with the Christmas party for the Planes of Fame volunteers. We showed our appreciation for them by giving rides in our Chipmunk, L-4, Champ, and Stearman. The next week it was time for our own Christmas party! We had a laser tag company set up a course in the back of our hangar. We had a lot of fun, ran around a lot, and learned a lot about each other. Of course Pat would be a sniper and Matt would be the one to charge the enemy team. And “T” was the one who never wanted to stop playing—we all had to keep up with the 9-year-old!

Last Saturday was a big day at the hangar. Test flying the cub, lots of tailwheel training flights, and we even got a couple rides on the T-6. The highlight of the day was that we got Tiphani’s student, Austin, to solo for the first time! We surprised him with it on Christmas Eve. We told his family beforehand, so they were able to be there to cheer him on. Congratulations, Austin! We’re so excited for your aviation journey! Thanks for making us a part of it.

We’re a sucker for sunset flights here at Cal Aero Academy. If you are, too, we have rides available for purchase. There is nothing better than seeing a sunset in the Stearman.
