Another rousing weekend of working on the champ. It's finally going back together! We had a crew of over 15 people helping on the airplanes and lots of great work, flying, and even a movie night happened.
The champ was prepped for paint, with all of the tail feathers painted silver by the crew. The paint looked fantastic. Fabric repairs were also conducted on the tail of the airplane, with many of us learning about fabric application for the first time under the expertise of Matt. We also got the electrical system reinstalled in the airplane, and finished complying with the ADs. Fabric work was done on the wings to cover up the new inspection holes. The fuel tank was also removed for repairs. Maintenance was performed on the stearman, 150, and luscombe. Several people went flying throughout the day. Tiphani also passed the 1000 hour milestone flying the luscombe! Joanna took the controls of a plane for the first time. Saturday evening ended with dinner and a movie, we all watched top gun in preparation for the new movie coming out.
Thank you for everyone who makes this possible. And thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors who spent time with us Saturday. The champ will fly soon thanks to your help!! Calaeroacademy.org
