Private Pilot Aviation Happiness

Volunteer Spotlight, Michael

Academy Volunteer Interview

  1. How did you hear about the Academy?

My family was involved in starting the Academy, so it naturally fell into my lap.

  2. When did you start volunteering with the Academy?

I started volunteering in December 2021.

  3. What’s your favorite thing about the Academy?

My favorite thing is being able to fly a variety of airplanes. At a flight school, you might get exposed to 1 to 2 types of airplanes. Here, I’ve been exposed to more than 10 types of airplanes. This helps me appreciate their unique characteristics and make me a better, safer pilot.

  4. Can you walk us through your aviation adventures so far?

I earned my pilot’s license in 2023. Right now, it is my favorite and most expensive hobby. I enjoy going on lunch runs and flying as many different types of planes as possible. I could see it becoming my career in the future. For the time being, I am happy to learn as much as I can and continue volunteering.
