Our Second Airshow, Santa Maria!
Can’t believe we’ve had our second airshow already! Last weekend we attended the Central Coast AirFest in Santa Maria for their first airshow since the pandemic. We managed to beat the weather and practiced flying the Stearman, the Champ, and the T-6 up in formation on Friday afternoon. We all got up bright and so early the next morning to prepare for our volunteer roles in the airshow. Highlights included watching the C-17, with an inside tour that I’m sure none of us will ever forget, and being trusted to help out the announcer with his show. The main thing we all enjoyed, though, was the sense of community we felt. It really was inspiring being around others who had such passion for aviation, and knowing that we in turn helped foster that in others is an incredible feeling. The show was amazing, getting to know each other better that weekend was fantastic, I can’t come up with enough adjectives to describe how much we enjoyed last weekend. Huge shout out to everyone who helped out this weekend and everyone else, especially Planes of Fame out of Chino, who made it possible. We are extremely grateful to have been included. Here’s to many more future airshows!
